STATEMENT

Narrating emotions and feelings of human beings through fabric dyeing and freehand machine embroidery stitches always captivates me into an intense abyss. It so often confines me to the profound state as if my stitches do inside of the embroidery hoop. It eventually confuses me by suppressing my self-consciousness, forcing to feel the shivering beauty of the metaphoric state, and so brushing and laying the color and the stitches in ecstasies.

I mostly use such very coarse-grained materials as raw silk and bold colors of fabric dye. They tend to express extreme opposite state like two different faces of our feelings and emotions when combined so that I employ various techniques of the freehand machine embroidery stitches in order to blend them into a point of magical fusion.

After years of the tragic historical and biographical works I deliberately started to make a challenge into my recent works by using rich colors and fabrics. But quite often their pains and anguish still remain unconsciously re-seized in my embroidery hoop. I though at least keep trying to learn how to celebrate...
